An amusement park in New York City has announced that it will be bringing jellyfish lamps to the city on Wednesday night, and will be launching the lamps on Thursday.
The New York International Balloon Festival will be holding a launch party for the lanterns and a press conference on Friday.
On Monday, the park also announced that they will be hosting an exhibition about jellyfish in collaboration with the Japan Association of Scientific Research and Education.
The lanterns will also be available for purchase through the park’s website.
The lanterns are part of the Jellyfish Lamps of Japan exhibition, which will be held at the Japan Science Museum in Tokyo from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., and will feature more than 300 species of jellyfish, including bluegill, koi, sea squirt and others.
Jellyfish are an edible jellyfish species that grow to between 2.5 and 3 feet (1.5 to 1 meter) in length.
They are edible by eating algae, but most are poisonous.
Jellyfish are also used to make jelly and jellyfish oil, which can be used in cosmetics and medicines.
